Dear Kratom Protectors, Very unfortunate news out of Missouri as Governor Parson vetoed the KCPA Friday. The American Kratom Association (AKA) is deeply disappointed in the decision by Missouri Governor Parson to veto HB 1667, the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA). We want to thank Representative Phil Christofanelli and Senator Rehder for their tireless commitment to protecting the public from dangerously adulterated products that will now continue to be sold in Missouri because of the Governor’s veto. Governor Parson’s transmittal letter relies in part on outdated and inaccurate information previously disseminated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on kratom, and mischaracterizes a kratom product seizure made by the FDA in 2021. The AKA looks forward to the opportunity to meet with the Governor and resolve these issues so that Missouri kratom consumers are protected from dangerously adulterated products. A copy of the Governor's transmittal letter is listed below. |
